Some of Audi/VW's most potent platforms, like the 8V RS3 and TT RS, feature massive 8-piston OEM brakes that are plagued by clearance issues. The TC-10RT was engineered from the ground up to solve those clearance issues and can accommodate any big brake kit on the market for these platforms, with some fitments clearing every relevant brake scan in our library. It's a competition-grade wheel with an aesthetic that captures the motorsport heritage of these marques by pulling inspiration for its styling from the wheels found on the race cars these brands ran in the legendary Touring Car Racing series. It is an exceptionally well-balanced, fully-forged wheel that delivers remarkable stiffness, strength, and excellent weight-savings in tailored fitments that require no centering rings, spacers, or additional hardware.
The TC-10RT was designed specifically to clear the massive OEM 8-piston brakes fitted to certain Audi and VW models. Visually inspired by the wheels used on Audi and VW's wide-body TCR (Touring Car Racing) competition cars, the TC-10RT brings motorsport heritage from the circuits to the streets. The original wheels found on those legendary TCR cars were a heavy, basic cast design and never sold to the public. We've translated the aesthetic of those wheels into an optimized, high-performance forged design that's ideal for both track and street. This wheel infuses that unmistakable look with Real Performance features to deliver remarkable strength, stiffness, and weight-savings. These platforms have never enjoyed a wide selection of high-performance forged wheel options - and especially ones that fit properly without centering rings or modifications. The TC-10RT changes that, delivering tailored fitments that require no centering rings, spacers, or additional hardware, ensuring a seamless upgrade for discerning drivers.
Features:
10K Tons of Pressure
- Our new forgings weigh as much as 120 pounds before machining. To form such a thick blank we require special equipment capable of 10,000 metric tons of pressure, well above what most other brands use. This extreme pressure increases the strength of the aluminum by eliminating porosity and improving the grain structure.
True Motorsport Blanks
- Many companies use 3rd-party blanks intended for non-motorsport wheels which can severely limit sizes, concavity, spoke design, and critical brake clearance. We designed our very own blank profiles from scratch which gives us total control over the final product, resulting in exceptionally deep spokes and stronger designs.
Side-Milled Spokes
- To be as light as possible the TC-10RT features side-milled spokes. Any excess material that doesn't add strength is carved out using a precision CNC ball cutter. Side-milling is often deemed cost-prohibitive by others, but for true performance without compromise we believe it's essential.
Sprint Spec Inner Lip
- The TC-10RT borrows the race-proven Sprint Spec inner lip from our Sprint Line wheels, providing critical strength to the unsupported inner lip of the wheel. Adding 32% more material where it matters most. Don't settle for under-engineered wheels, attack both the track and your cities potholes with confidence. 50% More reinforcement than a standard inner lip.
Weight Optimized
- We conducted extensive Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to reinforce high-stress areas and to remove material where it didn't improve strength. The result is a wheel that is exceptionally light without the strength compromises found on typical lightweight wheels.
Independently Tested
- We don't rely solely on computer simulations or unverifiable in-house testing. We believe independent testing is critical to protect consumers in this unregulated industry. We chose ITS, an independent lab outside of Detroit, to test our Sprint wheels far above JWL standards, including increases in testing duration, impact drop height, and total load.
Big Brake Clearance
- From day one, Apex has been on a mission to build wheels that clear big brakes. Our new forged wheels are the product of everything we've developed over the past 10+ years, including an innovative high-clearance barrel design and vehicle-specific spoke profiles.
Motorsport Heritage Aesthetic
- The TC-10RT project was originally dreamt up by our in-house VW/Audi market fitment expert, himself a deeply dedicated VAG tuning enthusiast. Its styling had to be a love letter to their motorsport heritage and the inspiration for its aesthetic came from the wheels VW and Audi ran in the legendary Touring Car Racing (TCR) series. With its split 10-spoke design, this wheel evokes that look and translates it into a tremendously functional forged wheel that nods at the motorsport heritage of these brands in a way no other wheel does. It's a fully-optimized Real Performance wheel that captures that once unobtainable Touring Car Racing look.
Built for Impact Sockets
- Track wheels need track tools. Don't settle for wheels that require undersized tuner lugs or thin walled sockets. All Apex wheels accommodate over-sized race lugs and impact sockets to make swapping wheels lightning fast.
Laser-Engraved Specs
- As track enthusiasts ourselves, we know how frustrating it is to try to locate and decipher wheel specs that have been hastily hammered into the rim or become unreadable over time. With our new Sprint wheels, we chose to invest a little extra and laser-engrave the specs on the barrel, in plain sight, making them easy to find and read. (You're welcome.)
TPMS
- All Apex wheels accept OEM and aftermarket Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensors and standard fit valve stems. If you don't have sensors, then select from our metal stems available in multiple finishes.
