The first round of Formula DRIFT was a pretty exciting event. After weeks of preparation and testing, Charles Ng well qualified in his Mazda FC. Currently, Charles is ranked 19th. We’re going to be making some more changes to the car before round 2 in Georgia. Stay tuned for a refreshed look of the vehicle as well. We’ve already started by integrating a custom Voltex 1800mm GT wing to help keep the car steady during Charles’ rubber burning passes.

In addition to the regular Formula DRIFT event, there was also a team drift competition during the closing days of the Long Beach Grand Prix. This event consisted of multiple team drivers drifting in tandem, synchronizing moves, judged by factors such as driving lines, speed, and style. Team Mazda took first place in this competition. Congrats to Charles Ng, Kyle Mohan, and Joon Maeng for their accomplishment!

It’s official, Evasive Motorsports will be trying their hand at Formula DRIFT with FD driver Charles Ng for 2011! If you’re a Formula DRIFT fan, you may remember that Charles Ng was one of the favored rookies last season. Finishing 17th out of 43 drivers, Charles was runner up for Formula DRIFT Rookie of the Year.

For 2011, Charles decided to look for a motor sports company that could provide the proper support and maintenance of his vehicle in order to better compete throughout the season. Also having competed at Time Attack events, Charles was very familiar with Evasive Motorsports and our specialities, particularly in suspension set-ups. Recognizing Charles’ talent in drifting and sharing the passion for motor sports, we couldn’t help but accept the opportunity to join in on the fun at Formula D.

Be on the lookout for Charles Ng and his Mazda FC RX-7, now sporting the Evasive Motorsports logo along with our company crest adorning the roof. Round 1 will be on the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Street Course on April 8-9. It’s going to be a very exciting season!
